In about 1996, this desk was bought in the UK by an American serviceman and taken back to the states. He desperately wanted to restore it, but didn't have a complete set of schematics (circuit diagrams - to us). We exchanged mails for some six months, and I believe all was going quite well.
    The last mail I had from him said that "The Sheriff has given us 10 minutes to evacuate the house"! The mail then went on to explain that there house was in the path of a hurricane due to arrive in the next 20 minutes. He said that the basement, where the desk lived, was already under two feet of water. If I didn't hear from him again, his house would have been destroyed.
